African Opal and Jasper Necklace (D52)
African opal does not have the same gemlike qualities of true opals but the mottled markings coupled with an almost turquoise blue on these pebble-shaped stones are fascinating. I believe African opal is a kind of jasper and here I've knotted them with 10mm round brown jasper beads which themselves look as if they have been made from wood.
I've knotted the stones with a brown nylon cord and used gold vermeil for the clasp.
This is a nice chunky casual necklace which would look fabulous with cream, navy, dark green, teal or dark brown.
The necklace is 20" (515mm) long.
