Lapis Lazuli Knotted Necklace (SS110)
Most of the lapis lazuli I work with is raw - roughly cut and lightly polished or not polished at all. The results are more bohemian than this necklace. Here the lapis has been cut into fat rice shapes and rondelles.
I've knotted them together using a matching nylon cord and used a hammered Karen Hill Tribe Silver (higher pure silver content than sterling silver) toggle clasp.
The necklace is 20" (515mm) long making this a very wearable every day necklace - smart enough for work but beautiful enough for going out too.
Nothing can beat the deep cobalt blue of lapis - no wonder it was so prized by renaissance painters as a pigment!
