Rainforest Jasper Pendant Necklace (D47)
This is a very unusual pendant necklace comprising three carved stones which fit beautifully together. I've strung them on four strands of hand-dyed silk, all finished with sterling silver.
Rainforest jasper is actually rhyolite, a stone formed through volcanic action which includes various forms of quartz depending on how long the rock took to cool.
The swirling patterns hint at the stones' violent past, one which has resulted in great beauty. In these stones you can see some transparency formed by pure obsidian, where the magma has cooled too quickly for other minerals to flow in.
The length is 18" (465mm) and all metal parts are sterling silver. It fastens with a sterling silver lobster clasp.
This necklace will be much admired!
