Thistle Dew Necklace (BW50)
Last year I attended a class for advanced beadworkers given by visiting American beadwork designer Laura McCabe. Laura's work is very edgy, more beaded art than jewellery - her beaded sculptures are amazing! But the class for this design of hers was within my capabilities and I enjoyed making this piece.
It features many component parts and I had fun choosing which beads I wanted to use to make this necklace. There are Swarovski crystal pearls, seed beads, O beads and delica beads used here.
The resulting necklace is a very wearable piece of beadwork.
The necklace measures 19" (485 mm) with the thistles measuring around 10cm.
Laura's own work sells for $$$$$$s. This is much more affordable! She doesn't mind people selling what they make from her designs, as long as she is credited as the designer - which I'm more than happy to do.
